an orientation appointment at Cortez Hill Academy (CHA). Open House every Tuesday between 4:30 & 5:30. You may also schedule an appointment by contacting Julia Barraford at (619) 338-9206. 2. Fill out an application. CHA will hold a lottery if there are more applications than openings for Fall 2008-09. 3. When you receive a letter of acceptance, you will need to: a. Complete an enrollment packet and meet with the counselor at CHA. Parent/guardian and student must both be present at the meeting. b. Provide attendance, transcripts, test scores, IEP or 504 plan, discipline screen from your previous school. This information has nothing to do with acceptance into our program; it will help us with the student's adjustment to high school. c. Take a placement assessment for reading and for math readiness. Assessments will be scheduled at CHA. They have nothing to do wit acceptance into our program; they are to help us with planning students' classes. 4. Prospective students may make an appointment to shadow a current student for part of the school day. 5. During the summer you will receive: a. a list of necessary items for school (such as P.E. clothes and ID cards) with the costs and fees for those items; b. a list of materials you will need to purchase for school; c. dates and times to receive your class schedule, handbook, school calendar and to pay your fees - ASB, PE clothes, Cortez Hill Academy Parent Association (CHAPA) dues. 6. Freshmen attending CHA in 2008-09 will be required to attend the Freshmen Overnight, which is scheduled during the first two weeks of the school year. |
